We Champions Males who act as agents of positive change.
Men‘s Forum Against Domestic Violence Uganda (MFADVU) is fully registered Non-Governmental Organization formed in March 2014 under registration No. 10592. It was founded by Muhabuzi Lauben. Initially it was formed as Men‘s Protection Against Domestic Violence but after several consultations, it was rebranded in 2018 to Men‘s Forum Against Domestic Violence Uganda.
Our major aim is to minimize Gender Based Violence (GBV) through promoting male involvement to become active parents, more equitable partners and agents of positive change in their lives.
We work with Male Action Groups which are categorized depending on the age group. Those who perform very well are recognized as ― Male Champions who act as agents of positive change.
Fatherhood is also one of our programs where we train fathers and other male care givers in parenting.
Model Fathers are recognized as away of promoting active involvement of fathers in raising up children.
Integral to our activities is to mark National Father‘s Day on 21 June every year.
MFADVU organized the launch of National Father‘s day in Uganda in 2016 at Bat Valley theatre in Kampala . This day was officially inaugurated by the Prime Minister of Uganda Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda.
The reason behind recognizing and celebrating national Fathers Day is to Promote active, equal and non-violent involvement of fathers and other male caregivers in raising up children.
MFADVU also highlights the vulnerability of men and help to script a new identity of a man
Gender Based Violence is a result of power inequalities between men and women. According to Uganda Demographic Healthy Survey (UDHS) 2011, indicated that 56.1% of women and 55.4‘% of men aged between 15-49 have experienced physical violence, while 27.8% of women and 8.9% of men have experienced sexual violence.
