National Fathers Day Report 2018

On June 21st 2018 Men’s Forum Against Domestic Violence Uganda in partnership with ministry of Gender, Labour and social Development organized the 3rd National Father’s Day celebrations at Makerere University Business School Nakawa in Kampala under the theme “Bringing Back the Fathers as an approach for family stability”.
The event was open to the public and approximately 600 people were in attendance. The event started at 8:00am with matching from Shell Nakawa up to the venue. During the event, among the day’s activities was a discussion panel, where panelists came up with resolutions on how fathers can actively get involved in responsible child upbringing.

The keynote speaker was Hajat Hajarah Nalubega who represented the commissioner Family and Culture Department in the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development.
The Guest of honour, Mr. Niles Cole who represented the American Ambassador in Uganda arrived at 12:45pm; in his speech he emphasized the need for father’s involvement in raising up children as the only way to end Gender Based Violence and violence against children.

National Fathers’ Day Report 2017

National Father’s Day is marked in honour of all Fathers for everything they do for their children. This is an occasion to express gratitude towards our Fathers for all the love and support that they shared with us. This day provides a platform for creation of a safe ground for Fathers to discuss their experiences in order to challenge all practices that hinder them from being good Fathers, thus rejuvenate their value within Uganda and Internationally.
